Research

Primary research interests include Aegean prehistory (especially the Late Bronze and Early Iron Age), as well as the archaeology Greece, Italy, and the Balkans in the protohistoric and historic periods; the archaeology of colonialism; the topography of Athens; and the integration of literary evidence with the material record in the study of the past.

In addition to current projects, not least the Ancient Methone Archaeological Project, I have been invited, and under contract, to write a textbook by Cambridge University Press on Aegean Prehistory and Classical Greek Archaeology. Work is also well advanced on the final publication of the Early Iron Age Cemeteries in the Athenian Agora series, to be published by the American School of Classical Studies at Princeton; the first of two volumes in the Athenian Agora series was submitted for publication in 2012.
